Since childhood we were told that we need to sleep 8 hours per night. However several large number studies have shown that reported sleep of more than 7.5 hours on weekdays correlates with an increased mortality risk. The lowest mortality risk was among those that reported between 6.5 and 7.5 hours of sleep on weekdays. In summary, based on recent research data, the recommended sleep for adults is 6.5-7.5 hours on weekdays. |
